New Delhi, August 10: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has commenced an inquiry into the alleged discrepancies surrounding the 14th Preliminary Examination conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC). This follows the registration of an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) aimed at investigating the financial dimensions of the case.

The ECIR was initiated based on a First Information Report (FIR) filed by the Crime Investigation Department (CID) regarding the suspected examination irregularities. This move brings the financial dealings and potential money trails associated with the alleged examination fraud under the agency's examination.

There are suspicions that significant financial transactions may have occurred in relation to the alleged examination misconduct. The investigation will likely delve into the financial dealings linked to the case, the origins of the funds, and the possible flow of money.

The ED aims to determine if any monetary exchanges took place concerning the alleged examination irregularities. If financial transactions are confirmed, the agency will seek to identify the individuals involved and clarify their suspected roles.

A five-member team from the ED's Ranchi unit has been dispatched to probe the financial aspects of this case. This team includes one Assistant Director and four inspectors, who may interrogate individuals associated with the case and review pertinent documents and financial records as necessary during the investigation.

So far, the alleged irregularities in the JPSC 14th Preliminary Examination have resulted in 19 arrests, as per the latest updates on the case. The Jharkhand CID is leading the broader investigation into these alleged examination irregularities.

The ED's involvement comes amid ongoing controversies regarding the examination process, alongside student demands for accountability concerning the alleged irregularities. Prior to this development, the state government and student representatives engaged in extensive discussions over three days to prevent potential student protests.

While the government has indicated that several student demands were acknowledged during these discussions, a conclusive resolution has yet to be achieved.
