The match, held on Tuesday, saw second-half goals from substitutes Youssef Ezzejjari and Nandha Kumar, overturning an early strike from Brandon Fernandes. With this victory, East Bengal climbed to the top of the table with 21 points from 10 matches, edging out Jamshedpur FC on goal difference. Meanwhile, Mumbai City FC fell to fifth place with 19 points from 11 matches, marking their first home loss of the season. Kevin Leonel Sibille, East Bengal's centre-back, was awarded the Player of the Match for his outstanding defensive performance.


Mumbai City Takes Early Lead

The match began with Mumbai City FC applying early pressure, but East Bengal's centre-backs Sibille and Anwar Ali held their ground. The Islanders struck first in the eighth minute when a long throw from left-back Akash Mishra caused chaos in the box, allowing midfielder Brandon Fernandes to score with a left-footed shot into the top corner. Jorge Ortiz tested Gill from distance, and Chhangte's dangerous cross saw substitute Gyamar Nikum hit the woodwork during stoppage time. Despite late efforts from Kauko and Ortiz being saved or narrowly missing the target, East Bengal's defense held strong.
