However, local authorities swiftly addressed these concerns, clarifying that the smoke was a result of a fire on a boat docked in the area, and not indicative of any military action. This incident took place in the Al Jaddaf waterfront zone, which is adjacent to important commercial and residential areas along the creek. Officials confirmed that there were no injuries associated with the fire, which was primarily caused by the burning of fibreglass materials used in the boat's construction. Social media was abuzz with images and videos showing the thick smoke, leading to speculation about a possible attack on Dubai.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE reported that its air defense systems successfully intercepted two unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on May 10. This interception comes amid escalating security concerns in the Gulf region, where maritime and aerial tensions are on the rise.

This clarification comes in the wake of heightened tensions in the region, particularly after the UAE confirmed that its air defense systems had intercepted two drones originating from Iran earlier that day. Since the conflict began on February 28, UAE officials have reported numerous aerial threats, including ballistic and cruise missiles as well as drones. According to official statistics, a total of 551 ballistic missiles, 29 cruise missiles, and 2,265 drones have been intercepted during this period. The UAE has also experienced casualties from previous attacks, including the deaths of two military personnel and a Moroccan civilian contractor. Consequently, the sight of heavy smoke near Dubai Creek heightened anxiety online, with many mistakenly suggesting an attack near Dubai International Airport or other critical infrastructure.
