Drunk Driver Steals Bulldozer, Causes Chaos in Wolverhampton
A Shocking Incident in Wolverhampton
It’s not uncommon to hear about minor thefts or incidents of drunk driving, but a recent event in Wolverhampton, England, has taken things to a whole new level. A man reportedly stole a massive 24-ton bulldozer and drove it recklessly through busy city streets while under the influence of alcohol, leading to a terrifying situation for both police and the public.
The 41-year-old suspect is accused of taking the bulldozer from Stafford and then careening through various thoroughfares in Wolverhampton. His joyride resulted in significant damage to road surfaces, street furniture, and multiple vehicles.
The bulldozer was seen speeding along major roads such as Bridgnorth Road and Compton Road West, as well as the A4150 dual carriageway, creating chaos in the area. Witnesses described the scene as nothing short of unbelievable. Charlene Harris, 47, filmed the incident and recounted that she was at a pub when she heard the commotion outside.
She mentioned that police initially used a Royal Mail lorry to block the road, shouting for everyone to stay clear as the bulldozer approached from Willenhall. Harris stated, “The bulldozer easily smashed through the lorry. We couldn’t comprehend what was happening. There were a lot of police trying to stop it.”
Eventually, the bulldozer was halted on New Road in Willenhall at around 8:15 PM. Following the chaos, the individual was promptly arrested by the police. He faces multiple serious charges, including driving under the influence, dangerous driving, criminal damage, theft, failure to stop, and using threatening language and behavior.
The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue, and he could be facing a lengthy prison sentence. This isn’t the first instance of large vehicle theft; recently, a 12-year-old boy in Singapore stole a bus and drove it for nearly 100 kilometers for five hours, resulting in only minor scratches.
