Drone Strike Causes Alarm Near US Consulate


Dubai: A drone attack occurred near the US Consulate in Dubai, igniting a fire as Iran escalates its drone and missile strikes against American diplomatic sites throughout the Middle East.


This incident took place late Tuesday night (local time), following reported assaults on US diplomatic locations in Kuwait and Riyadh, indicating a troubling rise in regional tensions.


US Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed the drone strike, assuring that all personnel were unharmed.


Rubio stated, "A drone struck a parking area next to the chancellery building, causing a fire. Fortunately, all personnel are safe."


Residents captured videos showing thick black smoke rising from behind the consulate as emergency services arrived promptly.


The Dubai Media Office posted on X, stating, "Authorities have confirmed that the fire caused by the drone incident near the US Consulate has been contained. Emergency teams acted swiftly, and no injuries have been reported."


In a follow-up update, the Dubai Media Office shared images of a fire extinguisher vehicle positioned outside the consulate.


"The fire near the US Consulate in Dubai has been completely extinguished, with no injuries reported. Dubai authorities are dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of all," the post added.


In light of the attack, the US Consulate in Dubai has suspended all visa and consular appointments until March 4.


Following the drone strike, US officials have advised American citizens to steer clear of the consulate and stay sheltered as tensions in the region escalate amid ongoing assaults on US diplomatic facilities.
