Important Meeting Scheduled for DMK Leaders

Chennai, August 13: The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) is set to conduct a significant meeting for district secretaries on Wednesday, presided over by party leader and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, at Kalaignar Arangam, Anna Arivalayam in Chennai.

This gathering aims to evaluate the progress of the ongoing membership initiative titled “Oraniyil Tamil Nadu” and to finalize strategies to bolster the party's position ahead of the forthcoming Assembly elections.

DMK General Secretary Duraimurugan has previously instructed all district league secretaries to ensure their attendance at this meeting.

According to the notice, the meeting will take place on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. The agenda focuses on the ‘Oraniyil Tamil Nadu - Membership’ initiative, and all district league secretaries are urged to participate in this crucial discussion.

With the elections approaching in just a few months, the DMK has intensified its organizational efforts.

Through the outreach program “Udhanpirappae Vaa,” Chief Minister Stalin has been visiting various constituencies to engage with party leaders and enhance grassroots coordination. Concurrently, the “Oraniyil Tamil Nadu” campaign is actively working to recruit new members statewide.

Initially, the goal was to enroll 30 percent of the voter base from each booth. However, in a bid to broaden the party's organizational footprint, Stalin has since increased this target to 40 percent.

While the membership drive is slated to conclude on August 15, sources within the party indicate that it may be extended to maximize recruitment efforts prior to the elections.

The upcoming meeting is anticipated to review membership statistics, assess booth-level readiness, and strategize on integrating new members into the party's electoral framework.

Senior party officials believe that a robust and expanded membership will be vital for the DMK's electoral strategy. This high-level meeting underscores the DMK's commitment to ensuring comprehensive organizational readiness as it gears up for a competitive Assembly election.
