Kanimozhi's Strong Critique of Government Actions
On Tuesday, DMK MP Kanimozhi launched a fierce critique of the central government during a Lok Sabha debate on Operation Sindoor. She raised concerns regarding the government's approach to recent terrorist incidents and accused it of evading accountability. Kanimozhi emphasized that the lack of learning from past mistakes has eroded public trust in the government. She questioned what lessons the nation has learned from these terrorist attacks, stating, 'You cannot expect us to refrain from questioning while discussing Operation Sindoor. This reflects the failure of a government that has disappointed its citizens. You cannot expect us to forget current issues while you talk about the past. The nation has learned nothing.'
During the debate on Operation Sindoor, Kanimozhi targeted the Modi administration, accusing it of engaging in divisive politics and excluding the opposition from crucial national security briefings. She remarked, 'There is no expectation of unity when it comes to dividing the country or standing up when needed. We will not support your divisive politics. Have you ever invited us to brief us on developments after a foreign delegation?'
Kanimozhi expressed mixed feelings regarding the opposition's involvement in the Operation Sindoor Global Outreach. While she appreciated the BJP's decision to include opposition leaders in the delegation, she stressed that the circumstances leading to the formation of the delegation were unfortunate. The DMK MP noted, 'For the first time, the BJP has shown some trust in the opposition by sending us as leaders of the delegation to represent the country. I thank them for that. However, I must also say that we would have been happier and more grateful if we had not been compelled to lead these delegations due to the breakdown of peace and the disappointment caused to the people of India by your government.'
Kanimozhi also opposed Home Minister Amit Shah's remarks, in which he labeled opposition parties as 'less patriotic.' She reminded Shah that the DMK was the first party to rally in support of the armed forces and stood with the government during the all-party meeting. She stated, 'The Home Minister portrayed us as less patriotic in his speech. We have never let this country down. The DMK was the first party to rally in support of our armed forces. When you called for an all-party meeting, we came and said we stand with you.'
