DMK Chief MK Stalin Launches Election Campaign with Promises for Farmers and Women
Stalin Kicks Off Campaign in Tamil Nadu
In Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister and DMK leader MK Stalin officially launched his election campaign on Wednesday in Tiruchirappalli. Declaring himself as 'the son of Karunanidhi,' Stalin unveiled a series of populist promises aimed particularly at farmers and women.
Key Announcements for Farmers
Focusing on agriculture, the Chief Minister made two significant pledges: first, he promised to provide free pump sets to 2 million farmers upon returning to power. Second, he assured that paddy would be purchased at a high rate of ₹3,500 per quintal, offering relief to farmers.
Major Commitments Ahead of Tamil Nadu Elections
Stalin stated that immediately after the DMK government is formed, a large library, TIDEL Park, and an Olympic academy will be established in the Tiruchi region. He also mentioned plans to develop Tiruchirappalli to be on par with the state capital, Chennai.
Stalin Critiques Previous Governments
He emphasized, 'We do what we say, and we say what we do. I am the son of Karunanidhi. The AIADMK, which ruled for ten years, led Tamil Nadu towards decline. The BJP has not provided any funds to Tamil Nadu. Edappadi Palaniswami only ran the government to benefit his relatives.'
No Caste Riots in Tamil Nadu, Claims Stalin
During the DMK rally in Tiruchi, CM Stalin asserted that his government has successfully fulfilled its promises, including free bus travel for women. He claimed that there are no caste riots in Tamil Nadu, contrasting it with communal violence seen in BJP-ruled states. He pointed out the violence in UP and ongoing unrest in Manipur, stating, 'There are no caste conflicts here, unlike in BJP-ruled states. We have thwarted BJP's attempts to create such situations. Our effective governance has led to continuous investment in Tamil Nadu.'
Support for Higher Education
Stalin mentioned that 900,000 students receive ₹1,000 monthly for higher education. At the Tiruchirappalli rally, he highlighted various welfare schemes, stating that in the past five years, ₹26,000 crores have been allocated for the benefit of the people in Tiruchirappalli. He confidently asked for votes, noting that other states have started implementing similar schemes like the 'Women’s Rights Allowance' after observing Tamil Nadu's initiatives.
