With the elections scheduled for April 23 and counting on May 4, the political landscape is heating up, with significant implications for the state's governance. The anticipated contest between the DMK and AIADMK-led NDA is set to shape Tamil Nadu's future.

Confidence in DMK's Victory

LK Sudhish, a Rajya Sabha MP and treasurer of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMK), expressed strong confidence that the DMK-led coalition will achieve a decisive victory in the upcoming Tamil Nadu assembly elections. He forecasted that the alliance would win more than 200 seats, criticizing the opposition and asserting that the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) is heading towards a complete defeat in the elections.

Remarks After Ramadan Prayers

Speaking to the media after participating in a special Ramadan prayer near Ambur in the Tiruppattur district, Sudhish stated that even before the DMK's alliance, the party was already in a strong position to secure around 200 seats. With their support, he believes the coalition will easily surpass this number. He emphasized that the AIADMK would face a significant loss in the elections. Over 30,000 individuals attended the Ramadan prayers, after which Sudhish greeted members of the Muslim community. Several DMK leaders and Ambur MLA V. Vilvanathan were also present.

Ongoing Seat Distribution Discussions

Regarding the seat-sharing arrangement, Sudhish mentioned that discussions between the DMK and DMK are ongoing, and a final decision will be made once negotiations are complete. When asked about the potential electoral impact of actor Vijay's party, Tamilga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), Sudhish acknowledged that it could influence the election results. The Election Commission has announced that the Tamil Nadu assembly elections will take place in a single phase on April 23, with counting set for May 4. These elections are for the 234-member assembly, whose current term ends on May 10.

Anticipated Main Contest

The primary contest is expected to be between the DMK-led coalition and the AIADMK-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which includes the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK). Additionally, Kamal Haasan's Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) is also in talks with the DMK regarding seat-sharing, indicating a broader coalition strategy ahead of the elections.
