The latest disruption has occurred on the approximately 25-km Jatinga-Harangajao stretch, an important road link in Dima Hasao district.

Haflong, Sept 2: On Monday, construction activities for the Silchar-Saurashtra East-West Corridor faced another setback as residents from Dolaichunga village near Harangajao obstructed the work, demanding overdue compensation.

This disruption took place along the vital 25-km stretch of the Jatinga-Harangajao road in Dima Hasao district. Local reports indicate that the residents halted the construction of the elevated corridor, claiming that they had not received the compensation owed to them.

The compensation issue has been a recurring theme over the past few months, leading to multiple interruptions in the construction process. These ongoing delays have raised concerns regarding the project's timeline and highlighted the urgent need for administrative action to resolve the compensation claims.

The Jatinga-Harangajao segment of the Silchar-Saurashtra East-West Corridor is considered essential for enhancing connectivity in the hill district. This stretch traverses challenging terrain and has historically struggled with traffic congestion, especially during the rainy season.

Recently, two lanes on one side of the elevated corridor at Dolaichunga were completed and opened for traffic, providing significant relief to commuters and alleviating congestion in the area.
