Dispute Erupts Over Funeral Arrangements in Ambedkar Nagar
Ambedkar Nagar Incident
In Ambedkar Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, a woman's suspicious death has led to a heated dispute between her in-laws and her family regarding her funeral arrangements. The situation escalated to the point where a village council convened at the mortuary to resolve the matter. During this meeting, they decided who would claim the body, who would perform the last rites, and which cremation site would be used. Both parties were adamant about their preferences, prompting the council to find a compromise.
Details of the Case
The incident occurred in the Tanda police station area, specifically in the village of Piyarepur Khas. The deceased, Chanda, was married to Sonu from the same village about seven and a half years ago; they have a six-year-old son. Chanda was found hanging inside her in-laws' home on Thursday. Upon hearing the news, her family rushed to the scene and began questioning the circumstances surrounding her death.
Village Council Meeting at the Mortuary
Police arrived at the scene, conducted an initial investigation, and sent the body for an autopsy, which took place today. Chanda had returned to her in-laws' home just a day prior, while her husband was in Tamil Nadu at the time. After the autopsy, both families insisted on claiming the body, leading to further complications. The Tanda police intervened as tensions rose, and a lengthy discussion ensued with the presence of local dignitaries, including District Panchayat President Sadhu Verma and Tanda Kotwal Deepak Singh Raghuwanshi.
Final Decision on Funeral Arrangements
Ultimately, the council decided that the body would be handed over to Chanda's family. Her son was designated to perform the last rites. The council also agreed on a cremation site, as both families had different preferences. They settled on a third location for the funeral, and the body was transported directly from the mortuary to Lagangdi Prithvipur for the cremation.
