The Odisha Utsav is set to take place in Kolkata on March 8, organized by the Odia Language, Literature, and Culture Department. This inaugural event outside Odisha aims to celebrate the state's rich cultural heritage through various performances, traditional cuisine, and exhibitions of handloom and handicrafts. Culture Minister Suryabanshi Suraj will inaugurate the festival, which will also honor Odia writers and organizations in West Bengal. The event promises to be a vibrant platform for cultural exchange and reconnecting the Odia diaspora with their roots.
 

Odisha Utsav Set to Celebrate Culture in Kolkata


Bhubaneswar: The Department of Odia Language, Literature, and Culture is gearing up to host the 'Odisha Utsav' in Kolkata on March 8, aiming to showcase the state's vibrant cultural heritage, as announced by an official on Saturday.


Taking place at the National Library's auditorium, the event will be inaugurated by Odisha's Culture Minister, Suryabanshi Suraj. The ceremony will also honor Odia authors residing in West Bengal and various organizations representing the Odia community.


The festival will feature a variety of performances highlighting Odisha's folk arts, traditions, and culinary delights, alongside handloom and handicraft exhibitions. Attendees can look forward to cultural showcases, including Odissi, Sahi Jata, Chhau, Ghumura, Dhemsa, Pashumukha dance, and Sambalpuri dance.


"Odisha is renowned for its artistic and cultural legacy, and one of the primary goals of this festival is to share this heritage with a broader audience. This marks the inaugural occurrence of Odisha Utsav being held outside the state," the minister stated.


He added that the festival will serve as a significant platform for cultural exchange among the Odia diaspora, fostering reconnection with Odia traditions and values. Suraj emphasized that the event is poised to play a crucial role in promoting and preserving Odisha's cultural legacy.
