According to reports, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh summoned Pawan Badhe, the acting High Commissioner of India, to discuss the matter. This meeting took place on April 30, 2026, in Dhaka, where Ishrat Jahan, the Director General of the South Asia Division, presented Bangladesh's stance to the Indian diplomat.


Controversial Remarks by Assam Chief Minister

On April 26, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that 20 foreign nationals had been apprehended in Assam and subsequently sent back to Bangladesh.
