Introduction of Digital Health Initiatives
On June 29, Minister of Health and Family Welfare, JP Nadda, will unveil several digital initiatives aimed at revolutionizing the healthcare sector in India. According to a statement from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, these initiatives, launched by the National Health Authority (NHA) and the National Resource Center for EHR Standards (NRCeS), are designed to enhance access to healthcare, strengthen interoperability, and accelerate the adoption of digital public infrastructure for health across the nation.
Event Details and Objectives
This launch event will gather state representatives, senior government officials, healthcare leaders, technology partners, industry representatives, and stakeholders. The goal is to showcase advancements towards a connected healthcare system where various systems can seamlessly collaborate. The initiatives to be introduced will include applications for citizens, tools for service providers, interoperability frameworks, registries, and data standards, all aimed at improving access, efficiency, and interoperability for citizens, healthcare providers, insurance companies, technology innovators, and policymakers.
Focus on Personal Health Record Application
A significant emphasis will be placed on a comprehensive Personal Health Record application (PHR), named 'Arogya Setu 2.0'. Building on the trust established during the COVID-19 pandemic, this updated app provides a single platform for various digital health services. It allows users to create and manage their Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA), view and share digital health records, exchange consent-based health information, access AI-powered insights, generate smart health reports, integrate with wearable devices, and facilitate OPD registration through 'Scan and Register', hospital payments via 'Scan and Pay', medication reminders, and family health management.
Additional Features and Services
The application also enables users to locate nearby healthcare facilities, doctors, ambulance services, blood banks with available units, and Jan Aushadhi centers. It includes access to PM-JAY services, allowing users to find empaneled hospitals, utilize the AB PM-JAY wallet, and gain information about the Ayushman CAPF policy along with other healthcare services. The enhanced Ayushman app will serve as a comprehensive digital platform for beneficiaries of the Ayushman Bharat Prime Minister Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY), offering features such as eligibility checks, card-related services, treatment history, hospital search, grievance redressal, and beneficiary support.
