Demand for Supreme Court Oversight in Ram Temple Donation Investigation
Congress Leader Calls for Supreme Court Inquiry
Danish Ali, a prominent Congress figure, has urged for a swift investigation into the alleged misappropriation of funds related to the Ram Temple. He expressed concerns about the possibility of the case being suppressed and questioned the credibility of the ongoing inquiry. In a statement, Ali remarked, "It has been established that those who were supposed to safeguard the funds turned out to be the thieves. The severity of this embezzlement warrants a punishment that only the Supreme Court can determine."
Concerns Over Investigation Integrity
Ali emphasized that there is no dispute regarding the theft itself, stating, "No one can deny that donations were misappropriated, including members from the BJP, RSS, and the Trust. The pressing question now is who will conduct the investigation?" He raised doubts about the impartiality of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by the Uttar Pradesh government, questioning whether those who were in charge during the theft could be trusted to investigate it. He further criticized the SIT for initially submitting its report to a member of the Trust, which he believes is an attempt to suppress the case.
Support for Timely Supreme Court Oversight
Ali backed the demand made by Ajay Rai, the Uttar Pradesh Congress president, for a time-bound investigation under the supervision of the Supreme Court. He stated, "Our president has requested that a current Supreme Court judge oversee the investigation within a specified timeframe. The objective is clear: the inquiry must be fair, and those responsible for the theft of donations should not evade justice. Therefore, it is crucial that this investigation occurs under the Supreme Court's oversight within a defined period."
