Delhi Residents Experience Relief from Heatwave as Weather Changes

Delhi residents are experiencing a welcome change in weather as temperatures drop significantly, providing relief from the ongoing heatwave. The India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for potential thunderstorms and rain, with temperatures recorded below normal across various weather stations. Weather Update for Delhi

After several days of intense heat and humidity, residents of Delhi received some welcome news on Monday morning. The change in weather brought a brief respite from the scorching sun and heatwave conditions. According to the meteorological department, the minimum temperatures recorded at major weather stations across the capital were significantly below normal.


The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert, predicting the possibility of thunderstorms and rain in certain areas throughout the day. At the Safdarjung weather station, the minimum temperature was noted at 24.9 degrees Celsius, which is two degrees lower than the average.


In addition, Palam recorded a minimum temperature of 22.8 degrees Celsius, which is 4.4 degrees below normal, while Lodhi Road saw a minimum of 23.7 degrees Celsius, 3.3 degrees lower than usual. The IMD reported that the minimum temperature at Ridge was 22.2 degrees Celsius, approximately four degrees below normal, and Ayanagar recorded 23.3 degrees Celsius, which is 2.8 degrees less than the average.


As per IMD data, no rainfall was recorded in the last 24 hours up to 8:30 AM on Monday. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) indicated that the air quality in Delhi was categorized as satisfactory, with an average air quality index (AQI) of 91. According to CPCB standards, an AQI of 0 to 50 is considered good, 51 to 100 satisfactory, 101 to 200 moderate, 201 to 300 poor, 301 to 400 very poor, and 401 to 500 hazardous. The IMD forecasts that the maximum temperature is expected to hover around 36 degrees Celsius.
