Violence Erupts During CJP Protest in Delhi

The Delhi Police has initiated strict measures in response to the violence that occurred during a protest by the Cockroach People's Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar. An FIR filed at the Connaught Place police station includes serious charges against the protesters and unruly elements, such as attempted murder of police officers, inciting riots, and damaging public property.

Criminal Elements Infiltrate Protest

According to police sources, some criminal and disruptive individuals have infiltrated the crowd under the guise of protesters. Investigations revealed that these antisocial elements were armed with sharp weapons like knives, posing a lethal threat to on-duty police personnel.

Injured ACP Receives Medical Attention

Hospital officials reported on Thursday that an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) was admitted to RML Hospital with head injuries and multiple wounds after being struck by stones near Jantar Mantar. ACP Vivek Bhagat was brought to the emergency department following the incident.

Upon examination, it was found that he had several injuries on his hands, legs, and shoulders, along with swelling at the back of his head. The hospital stated that the patient also reported bleeding from the ear and vomiting.

Medical Team Provides Care

The surgical team at the hospital assessed Bhagat and provided necessary medical care. Subsequently, he expressed a desire for further treatment at AIIMS, New Delhi, and was discharged from RML Hospital.

Multiple Injuries Reported

Police sources indicated that two ACPs and four police officers sustained injuries due to alleged stone-pelting by protesters on Wednesday evening. They noted that several 'antisocial' elements had infiltrated the protest site.

According to police statements, the first incident occurred around 4:30 PM when ACP Jai Prakash, stationed in Punjabi Bagh, was injured during the stone-throwing.

CJP Protest Continues at Jantar Mantar

Protesters from the Cockroach People's Party (CJP) have maintained their sit-in at Jantar Mantar. Supporters continued to gather at the protest site overnight, with volunteers receiving food and supplies from supporters. This movement, addressing alleged irregularities in competitive examinations, has now entered its second month.

In a post on X on Wednesday morning, CJP claimed that 'thousands of protesters are present at Jantar Mantar' and reiterated their demand for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

The post questioned, 'Why does the Prime Minister love 'Minister Pradhan' more than the youth of India?' Many supporters sent food to the protest site on Tuesday night as more individuals gathered at Jantar Mantar. Despite heavy security deployment following police action against CJP's 'March to Parliament' on Monday, the protesters continued their demonstration.

CJP Spokesperson's Statement

CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka stated that the movement will persist until Pradhan resigns. He emphasized, 'We will not leave this place until Dharmendra Pradhan resigns. July 20 marked a significant turning point in India's political history, especially post-independence. The youth will no longer remain silent.'

Late Tuesday night, CJP founder Abhijit Dipke clarified that the movement had not called for gatherings anywhere other than Jantar Mantar, where their peaceful protest is ongoing. He alleged that the group had received information about 'some goons' being sent to create disturbances in other parts of Delhi.
