Significant Seizure of Dangerous Kite String

In a proactive measure ahead of Independence Day and Raksha Bandhan, the Delhi Police has confiscated more than 1,200 rolls of prohibited Chinese kite string and apprehended three individuals from various locations in the national capital, as reported by an official on Sunday.

The official detailed that the operation last week resulted in the seizure of 1,226 rolls of nylon-based Chinese string, which is considered hazardous due to its potential to cause injuries or fatalities, particularly during festive seasons.

The crackdown began on June 26 with the first seizure at Kamla Market, followed by further actions on June 27 in Uttam Nagar and on July 5 in the Wazirabad area of North Delhi.

Three FIRs have been filed, leading to the arrest of three suspects involved in the sale and distribution of the banned kite string. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sanjeev Kumar Yadav stated that this operation is part of a preventive campaign aimed at curbing the sale of Chinese kite string, which poses serious risks to humans, birds, and animals. The DCP added that cases have been registered against the three accused, and investigations are ongoing to uncover the larger supply network involved in this trade.
