Delhi Police Seeks Extended Custody for CJP Leaders Amid Ongoing Legal Proceedings
Judicial Proceedings for CJP Leaders
New Delhi: On Wednesday, a Special Executive Magistrate (SEM) decided to postpone the ruling regarding the judicial remand of Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Rank, following a request from the Delhi Police for an additional three days of custody.
The two leaders were presented before the SEM, where their sureties were also submitted during the session.
Initially, they were placed in judicial custody for five days starting October 14 after being accused of trespassing into the denotified protest area at Jantar Mantar and breaching peace bonds.
Their custody was previously extended for two days on October 19, which was set to conclude on Wednesday.
Earlier that day, the Delhi High Court declined to intervene in the custody matter of Das and Rank, advising them to wait for the SEM's decision and to seek recourse through the appellate court if necessary.
