Delhi Police Responds to Claims About Detained Activist's Family Notification
Clarification from Delhi Police
New Delhi: On Sunday, the Delhi Police released a video to counter claims made by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) regarding the notification of Abhijeet Dipke about his grandmother's passing while he was in custody on October 10.
The police emphasized that they communicated the news with appropriate sensitivity and offered assistance for his travel to attend the funeral, which he declined.
This video was released following accusations from Dipke's mother, who alleged that her son was not informed about his grandmother's death on Saturday.
The CJP also echoed this claim, stating that Dipke had not been notified.
During a press briefing, Deputy Commissioner of Police (PRO) Neha Yadav presented the video, asserting that the information was relayed to Dipke promptly, including details about the funeral schedule.
The information regarding the demise of Abhijeet’s grandmother was promptly conveyed to him with due sensitivity. He was also informed of the scheduled funeral time and offered all possible assistance to facilitate his travel to his hometown on humanitarian grounds, however he denied to avail the same.

The police reiterated that they provided all necessary support for his travel back home on humanitarian grounds, which he chose not to accept. They also offered him the chance to communicate with his family.
Dipke's grandmother, who had been suffering from illness for an extended period, passed away on Saturday around 11:30 AM.
Dipke was one of three CJP leaders detained by the Delhi Police from an aircraft on Saturday, as they were set to protest at Jantar Mantar. The police had denied permission for the protest, citing procedural requirements and existing prohibitory orders in New Delhi.
Along with Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das, Dipke was placed under preventive arrest but was released on Sunday morning after appearing before an executive magistrate.
According to CJP legal affairs head Ratna Singh, the trio was released with the condition of maintaining peace for a year, which the CJP described as a significant legal victory.
