New Delhi, April 7: In a rapid response operation, the Delhi Police successfully rescued a 17-year-old girl and apprehended a suspect, thanks to the efforts of the women’s patrol team from Mahila Chowki in Central District. The girl had been lured to Delhi under the false promise of employment.

Officials reported that the situation unfolded on April 2 at approximately 10:00 AM when a police unit from Kamla Market Police Station, including SI Kiran Sethi, W/Ct Khushboo, and W/Ct Pooja, was conducting routine patrols near S.N. Marg. During their patrol, the minor approached them for assistance.

The police acted swiftly to ensure her safety and took her statement. The girl, originally from Darbhanga district in Bihar, disclosed that she had left home on March 14 due to family issues and traveled to Delhi based on a friend's suggestion.

Upon reaching New Delhi Railway Station, she was met by Shivji Das (52), a friend of her acquaintance, who took her to his home in Nehru Vihar. She stayed there from March 15 until April 2, under the guise of being offered domestic work.

During her stay, the victim alleged that Shivji Das made inappropriate advances and threatened her with defamation if she spoke out about his actions, particularly when his wife was not present.

On April 2, the accused brought her to the S.N. Marg area, instructing her to wait in a parking lot while he claimed to arrange a job for her. Feeling threatened and unsafe, the girl sought help from the passing women police team.

Responding to her plea, the police apprehended the suspect on the spot. Further inquiries revealed that he was attempting to negotiate a deal to sell the minor, a plan that was thwarted by the police's timely intervention.

An FIR (No. 95/2026) has been filed at Kamla Market Police Station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the POCSO Act, based on the victim's account.

The girl has undergone a medical examination and has been placed under the care of the Child Welfare Committee, currently residing in a shelter home for her safety.

Authorities confirmed the arrest of Shivji Das, a resident of Darbhanga, Bihar, and investigations are ongoing.
