Delhi Police Launches Major Operation Against Gangsters, Over 500 Arrested
Intensive Operation Targets Organized Crime in Delhi
On Tuesday, the Delhi Police announced the initiation of a comprehensive operation named 'Operation Gang Bust,' aimed at dismantling gangs and organized crime in the national capital. This extensive 48-hour campaign led to the arrest of more than 500 individuals linked to various gangster networks. Officials stated that the operation was conducted across multiple districts in Delhi to eliminate active gang modules, curb violent crime, and prevent rivalries among gangs.
Police Conduct Raids and Arrests
During this operation, police teams executed raids, searches, and targeted actions at identified locations and hideouts of gang members and their associates. According to police reports, several habitual offenders and fugitives wanted for crimes such as murder, attempted murder, extortion, robbery, and weapon-related offenses were apprehended. Senior officials closely monitored the operation, ensuring coordinated actions and swift implementation by district and special units. The primary goal was to send a strong message to active gangsters and criminal elements in the city.
Arrests Linked to Attempted Murder Case
On Saturday, the Special Cell of the Delhi Police arrested three assailants from the Himanshu Bhau gang in connection with an attempted murder case in the Bawana area. Police reported that various weapons, including sophisticated pistols and three live cartridges, were recovered from each suspect. Additionally, a stolen motorcycle was also seized from the accused.
Gang Leader Operates from Abroad
Vicky Haddal, a resident of Puth Khurd, was reportedly orchestrating the Himanshu Bhau gang's activities from abroad. The police revealed that due to personal enmity, Haddal allegedly instructed the arrested individuals to shoot Yameen Chandu, a resident of Sultanpur Dabas. This directive was purportedly a revenge act for the murder of Haddal's uncle, Dharmbir, who was killed earlier by Yameen Chandu's nephew. On December 8, while Yameen was heading towards Sultanpur Dabas, the assailants, waiting on a motorcycle near a community center, intentionally collided with his scooter, causing him to fall, and then opened fire. Fortunately, Yameen narrowly escaped. Subsequent investigations revealed that the assailants had scouted the area a day prior to the incident.
