A significant theft has been reported at the Maalkhana of the Special Cell of the Delhi Police located on Lodhi Road. Authorities have taken into custody Head Constable Khursheed, who was recently assigned to the Special Cell, in connection with this theft.

Officials revealed that Khursheed allegedly fled the Maalkhana on Friday night, making off with approximately ₹51 lakh in cash along with a substantial amount of jewelry. The incident was quickly discovered by the Maalkhana in-charge, prompting an investigation that utilized CCTV footage to identify Khursheed. A team from the Special Cell acted swiftly, apprehending him on Saturday.

Previously, Khursheed had been stationed in the Maalkhana but had been reassigned to East Delhi shortly before the incident. In a related development, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of the Delhi Police Crime Branch arrested a Nigerian national on Sunday for possessing and planning to distribute 282 grams of cocaine. This arrest occurred during a targeted operation in the Old Mahabir Nagar area of Tilak Nagar, Delhi, based on specific intelligence.

Deputy Commissioner of Police for the ANTF, Apoorva Gupta, reported that the suspect, identified as David Leanne, was found with a bag containing a yellow powdery substance. A field test conducted by the Forensic Science Laboratory confirmed that the substance was cocaine, categorized as a commercial quantity under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

An FIR has been filed at the Crime Branch Police Station, and investigations are ongoing. This operation was the result of meticulous surveillance and intelligence efforts led by ASI, who had received credible information regarding a foreign national involved in cocaine distribution within the Delhi-NCR area. The ANTF team promptly set a trap in Tilak Nagar, leading to Leanne's arrest.
