To ensure a safe and peaceful Holi celebration, the Delhi Police have deployed over 15,000 officers across the capital. The traffic police have made it clear that strict actions will be taken against those who drive recklessly or under the influence of alcohol during the festival.

Comprehensive Safety Arrangements in Place

The Delhi Traffic Police stated that extensive measures have been implemented to maintain public safety and facilitate smooth vehicle movement during the festivities. Special teams are stationed at major intersections and vulnerable routes to monitor dangerous driving behaviors such as zig-zag driving, jumping red lights, triple riding, riding without helmets, and performing stunts on two-wheelers.

License Suspension for Traffic Violations

According to the Supreme Court's Road Safety Committee, violations such as driving under the influence, jumping red lights, using mobile phones while driving, dangerous driving, and speeding can lead to the suspension of the offender's driving license for a minimum of three months. The police have also warned that if registered vehicle owners are found allowing minors or unauthorized individuals to drive, legal action will be taken against them.

Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic) Dinesh Gupta mentioned, "In light of the Holi festival, the Delhi Traffic Police has released a detailed traffic management plan. Our personnel are deployed at approximately 134 major intersections."

He added that staff will be present in specific areas, with senior officers overseeing the arrangements. "Our primary focus is to prevent drunk driving," he stated. "We will make every effort to curb violations of traffic rules, and appropriate actions will be taken wherever violations are detected." The officer also noted that the police will not hesitate to address violations reported on social media.
