New Delhi, April 2: Authorities in Delhi have apprehended three suspects involved in an unlawful LPG gas storage and refilling scheme in the Palam region, recovering 45 Bharat Gas cylinders during the operation, as reported by officials on Thursday.
A dedicated team from the Palam Village Police Station successfully dismantled the illegal setup, which was being conducted from a residential area.
The individuals arrested include Anaar Singh, a Najafgarh resident and driver; Satyaveer, a delivery boy from Dabri; and Vikas Kumar, an assistant delivery boy residing in Palam.
In addition to the cylinders, police confiscated a tempo vehicle from the scene.
The operation commenced on March 28 at approximately 7:00 a.m. when Head Constable Rajesh, while on routine patrol, received information about the illegal storage of LPG cylinders at a vacant plot located at WZ-57B, Adarsh Gali, Palam Village.
Responding swiftly, a police team led by SI R.P. Meena, along with HC Rajesh and HC Lalit Kumar, arrived at the site and discovered a tempo parked with its rear open.
Upon investigation, numerous domestic LPG cylinders belonging to Bharat Gas were found both inside the vehicle and in the surrounding area.
Authorities also uncovered that illegal refilling was taking place at the location, where gas was being transferred between cylinders using nozzles and a weighing machine, all without following safety regulations.
A total of 45 LPG cylinders were seized during the operation.
When questioned, the suspects could not provide any valid licenses or permissions for the storage of LPG cylinders. They admitted to renting the plot for illegal activities, aiming for financial gain through unauthorized refilling.
Further inquiries indicated that the illegal operations were allegedly linked to personnel from Blue Flame Gas Service in Janakpuri.
Officials from the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) office in Dwarka, along with representatives from Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited and the Food Safety Department, inspected the site and confirmed the illegal activities.
All three suspects were arrested, and a case has been filed under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Essential Commodities Act at the Palam Village Police Station.
Police have taken possession of all recovered cylinders and the equipment used in the operation, including nozzles, a weighing machine, and the vehicle, following legal protocols.
During further questioning, the suspects reiterated that they had rented the plot specifically for the illegal storage and refilling of LPG cylinders without any authorization, utilizing basic equipment for their operations.
