New Delhi, July 26 - Following the central government's assurance to withdraw cases against protesters in the NEET question paper leak incident, the Delhi Police are now waiting for official directives and information from the competent authority regarding further actions. This information was shared by police sources on Sunday.

During a joint press conference on Saturday, Union Minister JP Nadda, alongside spokespersons Saurav Das and Abhishek Ranka from the Cockroach Public Party (CAZPA), announced that the government has agreed to withdraw the FIRs against the demonstrators and will provide a written assurance on the agreed demands by Tuesday. A source mentioned, “We will act according to the guidelines and official information received from the competent authority.”

However, it was noted that the decision to withdraw the FIRs will not affect the investigation into the alleged larger conspiracy behind the clashes. The police are examining CCTV footage, digital evidence, mobile phone records, and witness statements to understand the sequence of events and identify suspects involved in planning, inciting, or participating in the violence.

Additionally, the police have utilized their facial recognition system (FRS) to identify over 2,500 individuals with criminal backgrounds or questionable character. Reports indicate that more than 200 police officers and 70 protesters were injured during the clashes on July 20, with significant damage to government vehicles and other public property. Sources confirmed that despite the proposal to withdraw the FIRs, the investigation into the conspiracy will continue, and all evidence collected during the investigation will be scrutinized as part of the ongoing inquiry.
