Delhi Police Arrests Illegal Immigrant in Major Operation

Operation Against Illegal Immigration in Delhi

In a significant operation targeting illegal immigration, the Delhi Police apprehended a Bangladeshi national under the Bhalswa flyover in the Jahangirpuri police station area early in the morning. Acting on specific intelligence, officers stopped a suspicious individual disguised as a transgender person. Investigations and questioning confirmed that this individual was residing in India unlawfully without any valid travel or identification documents. It was also revealed that the suspect used this disguise to engage in illegal activities at night.


Details of the Arrest

According to the Delhi Police, the operation was initiated based on information from a confidential informant. During initial questioning, the individual failed to present any legitimate travel or identification documents. A thorough examination of documents, digital footprints, and ongoing inquiries confirmed that the person was indeed a Bangladeshi citizen living illegally in India. A police press release indicated that during the investigation, officers discovered a smartphone containing the banned IMO app, along with documents of Bangladeshi national identity in the phone's gallery.


Legal Proceedings Initiated

Legal action has been initiated as per the law. The arrested individual was presented before the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), and procedures to deport him from the country have commenced. The Delhi Police identified the individual as Sukanta Chandra Das, also known as Madhuri, a 44-year-old male from the village of Baria in the Gazipur Sadar police station area of Dhaka district, Bangladesh.


Evidence Collected

Following the collection of evidence, the suspect was taken into custody. This evidence included a smartphone with the banned IMO app and several national identity documents from Bangladesh found in the phone's gallery.
