Delhi Police Arrest Armed Suspects and Seize Bulletproof SUV Ahead of Christmas
Police Operation in Outer North Delhi
On the eve of Christmas, the Delhi Police apprehended two armed individuals during a routine vehicle inspection in Outer North Delhi, seizing a bulletproof SUV in the process. This information was disclosed by officials on Thursday.
A joint team comprising local police, PCR staff, and traffic personnel conducted the arrests on Wednesday evening. The team was stationed at Mukarba Chowk, which leads towards the Singhu border, for regular checks.
Around 7 PM, the police stopped a black SUV with tinted windows that was approaching from Rohini. According to officials, the driver appeared anxious during questioning and began to give evasive answers regarding the tinted windows.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer North) Hreshwar Swami stated that when the occupants were asked to open the doors, it was discovered that the SUV was equipped with bulletproof glass, raising their suspicions. Upon searching the vehicle, police recovered two country-made pistols.
Identification of Suspects and Background
The suspects were identified as the driver, Deepak Mann (37), and his co-passenger, Ankit alias Honey (25). The police also confiscated the bulletproof vehicle. During interrogation, Deepak claimed ownership of the pistol found under the seat, while the other was said to belong to Ankit. Both individuals informed the police that they were carrying weapons for self-defense due to ongoing feuds in their village.
According to police records, Deepak Mann has a history of criminal behavior, with four previous cases registered against him, including murder. Ankit also has a prior case filed under the Arms Act. The police have initiated further investigations under the relevant sections of the Arms Act.
