New Delhi, April 17: On Friday, the Delhi Police announced that they have successfully arrested all remaining suspects involved in the assault case concerning a Brigadier and his son.
The police confirmed that the following individuals, who had previously been evading capture, are now in custody: Surjit Singh (36), Sunil Sharma (53), Ashish (32), all residents of Mehram Nagar, and Satender (35) from Bhiwani, Haryana.
Authorities revealed that Surjit Singh was acquainted with the primary suspect, Satender. The group was reportedly gathered in Mehram Nagar when Satender mentioned a dispute occurring in Vasant Enclave. They then proceeded to the scene in Surjit’s white vehicle. Upon arrival, a confrontation ensued, after which they returned home.
Upon discovering that a police report had been filed, the suspects fled their homes to avoid arrest. They were subsequently located and detained by law enforcement. The vehicle involved in the incident has been recovered, and further investigations are ongoing.
Previously, on April 14, police had arrested two suspects and confiscated a Mercedes believed to have been used in the assault. One of the arrested, Satender alias Sonu (49), is the son of Banwari Lal and resides in Mehram Nagar. He is reportedly a director at Chaudhary Aviation Pvt Ltd, a firm engaged in chartered and cargo flight services, as well as aircraft sales and parts.
The second suspect, Sanjay Sharma (56), son of Laxmi Narayan Sharma, also lives in Mehram Nagar and operates a local restaurant.
In response to the incident, Delhi Lieutenant Governor T. S. Sandhu expressed significant concern regarding the assault on the Brigadier, his wife, and their 23-year-old son, who is an IIT Delhi graduate. He has instructed that comprehensive security measures be implemented for the officer and his family.
The assault reportedly occurred when the Brigadier and his son stepped out for a walk after dinner. They noticed two individuals drinking alcohol in a parked white Mercedes. When the Brigadier intervened, a dispute arose, leading the individuals to summon their associates, who then attacked the Brigadier and his son.
