Delhi Crime News (Media House), New Delhi: The Delhi Police has intensified its efforts to apprehend criminals in recent days, launching a dedicated operation. As a result, several offenders have been captured, including a notorious member of the Neeraj Bawana gang during a shooting incident on Monday.

Success for AATS in South-East District

The AATS team from the South-East district successfully arrested Shubham, a key member of the Neeraj Bawana gang, during an encounter. The suspect fired at the police team near MB Road, but thanks to his bulletproof vest, officer Ashish was unharmed. In the police's return fire, the suspect sustained a gunshot wound to his leg and was subsequently apprehended and taken to the hospital. Police Deputy Commissioner Ravi Kumar Singh confirmed that the accused has been identified as Shubham, a resident of Jungpura. Authorities recovered a stolen motorcycle, a sophisticated pistol, and two cartridges from him.

Police Action Based on Intelligence

On March 16, the AATS received a tip-off that Shubham, a member of the Neeraj Bawana gang, was heading to Mahrauli to meet associates. Under the leadership of Inspector Pramod Chauhan, a team comprising SI Akash, ASI Salimuddin, ASI Roop Singh, HC Shahzad, Constable Sahil, Constable Kuldeep, and Constable Ashish was formed. The police initiated vehicle checks on MB Road in the Pul Prahladpur area. Around 10:30 PM, they spotted a suspicious motorcycle approaching from Badarpur.

When the police signaled for the vehicle to stop, the suspect attempted to flee by making a U-turn. Upon being ordered to surrender, he opened fire, hitting Constable Ashish. Fortunately, Ashish was wearing a bulletproof vest, which saved his life. In response to the suspect's gunfire, the police returned fire, injuring Shubham in his right leg. The police then apprehended him and rushed him to the hospital.
