Delhi Police Achieves Major Breakthrough in Snatching Cases
Significant Arrests in Karol Bagh
Delhi has witnessed a surge in snatching and robbery incidents, prompting police to make a significant breakthrough. Two snatchers were apprehended in the Karol Bagh area, one of whom has an extensive criminal record with over 70 cases registered against him.
On Thursday evening, the Delhi police received a tip-off about two suspicious individuals near Mata Sundari College. A police team quickly set up a trap in the area. Shortly after, two young men were spotted arriving on a motorcycle—one identified as Sameer, alias Kamran from Bhajanpura, and the other as Sameer from Karawal Nagar. Upon stopping them, officers discovered a woman's purse in their possession. When questioned, both attempted to flee, but the police managed to apprehend them after a brief chase.
Criminal Background Revealed
During interrogation, it was revealed that Kamran is not an ordinary thief but a seasoned criminal involved in serious offenses such as robbery and arson. He has over 70 cases against him, including a pending case at the Jafrabad police station for allegedly setting a shop on fire and demanding a ransom of one crore rupees from the shop owner.
Daily Earnings from Theft
The second suspect, Sameer, comes from a financially struggling family. According to police, he needed money for his sister's wedding. Kamran exploited this situation by luring him into his gang, promising him 2,000 rupees daily for assisting in snatching activities.
Investigation Ongoing
The duo used to ride a motorcycle, wore helmets, and concealed their number plates to avoid detection. Police noted that they had previously been arrested in a snatching case registered at the IP Estate police station. Following their arrest, authorities recovered a stolen handbag, a mobile phone, and various other items from their possession. Currently, the police are searching for their accomplices and the motorcycle used in the crimes.
