Delhi Metro Services Partially Disrupted Due to Storm Damage

Severe weather conditions have led to disruptions in Delhi Metro services, particularly affecting the Red and Yellow Lines. While the Pink Line has resumed normal operations, the DMRC is working to address the issues caused by storm damage. Commuters are advised to check for updates as the situation evolves. Areas like Shaheed Nagar and Jahangirpuri have been notably impacted, with ongoing efforts to restore full service.

Metro Services Update Following Storm

Following severe winds and rainfall that caused damage to overhead equipment in the national capital, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced on Wednesday that while operations on the Pink Line have returned to normal, disruptions continue on sections of the Red and Yellow Lines.

In a message posted on X, DMRC stated, "Metro Service Update: 1. Train services on the Pink Line are now operating normally. 2. Due to breakdowns in overhead equipment, train services are currently regulated and running on a single line in the following areas of the Red and Yellow Lines: Red Line: Dilshad Garden to New Bus Adda; Yellow Line: Vishwavidyalaya to Samaypur Badli."

The DMRC further noted that services on other sections of these lines are functioning on both Up and Down Lines, albeit with slight delays. They added, "All other lines unaffected by the windstorm are operating normally."

Earlier in the day, DMRC reported that operations were impacted on parts of the Red, Yellow, and Pink Lines due to damage from falling objects and overhead equipment caused by heavy rain and hailstorms in various areas of Delhi.

Stations near Shaheed Nagar, Jahangirpuri, and Nizamuddin were particularly affected. DMRC stated, "Due to the sudden windstorm, there has been some damage to overhead equipment or external objects falling onto metro tracks at certain locations."

The DMRC reassured passengers that they are actively working to clear the obstructions and repair the damaged overhead equipment to restore full service.
