Significant Relief for Commuters in Delhi-NCR

For the millions of commuters stuck in traffic jams across Delhi-NCR, there is promising news. The Delhi government has unveiled a substantial budget of ₹48,204 crore aimed at transforming the city's transportation system. This ambitious project will see the construction of over 97 kilometers of new metro tracks and the establishment of 65 new stations. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized that this initiative will particularly benefit the rapidly developing outer areas that have previously faced connectivity challenges.

Focus on Four Key Routes

Implementing such a large-scale infrastructure project is no small feat. Therefore, officials have prioritized four out of seven proposed routes. The government aims to have these critical corridors operational by 2029. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation will break down the detailed project report into phases for efficient execution. The cabinet has approved this proposal, and it has been forwarded to the central government for final financial approval, after which construction will commence.

Bright Future for Outer Delhi

For the average worker or businessperson, this development translates to significant time savings and relief from travel hassles. Residents of outer areas like Narela, Najafgarh, Khera Kalan, and Mithapur will no longer face difficulties reaching central Delhi. The new plan incorporates both underground and elevated tracks, enhancing connectivity. A major convenience will be the addition of several new interchange stations, making it easier to switch lines. According to the Chief Minister, this new network will serve as a lifeline in areas currently lacking efficient public transport, ensuring safer travel.

New Metro Routes to Note

  1. From Dhansa Bus Stand to Nangloi: This fully elevated route will feature 9 stations, covering Ranhola, Bakkerwala, and Najafgarh Extension.
  2. From Central Secretariat to Kishangarh: Primarily underground, this route will have 10 stations, providing excellent connectivity to JNU, RK Puram, and New Moti Bagh.
  3. From Samaypur Badli to Narela: This extension of the existing line will include 8 elevated stations, passing through Siraspur and Alipur.
  4. From Kirti Nagar to Palam: This route will connect residents of Mayapuri and Sagar Pur with 6 stations, combining both underground and elevated tracks.
  5. From Jor Bagh to Mithapur: This extensive corridor will feature 12 stations, linking Lodhi Colony, Jaitpur, and Moldabund.
  6. From Shastri Park to Mayur Vihar Phase 3: This route will be a boon for residents of Geeta Colony and Patparganj, including 8 stations.
  7. From Keshav Puram to Rohini Sector 34: This elevated track will connect 12 stations, linking Pitampura, Rohini, and Delhi Technological University to the main network.

Addressing Last Mile Connectivity

This comprehensive plan aims to resolve the 'last mile connectivity' issue in Delhi. Once Phase V is completed, the public transport system in Delhi will reach a global standard, transforming daily commutes into a comfortable experience rather than a tiring ordeal.
