Delhi Metro Closes 16 Stations for Security Reasons Amid Protests
Closure of Metro Stations in Delhi
New Delhi, July 23 - In a significant move, 16 stations of the Delhi Metro, including Rajiv Chowk, Central Secretariat, Mandi House, ITO, and Khan Market, have been shut down until further notice due to security concerns. This decision was announced by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
The closure comes in response to an increase in crowds at the ongoing protest by the Cockroach Public Party (CAZPA) at Jantar Mantar. Despite the shutdown, passengers will still have the option to change lines at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, and Central Secretariat stations. DMRC shared this update via a post on the social media platform 'X', stating, 'The following metro stations are closed until further notice: Lok Kalyan Marg, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Ramakrishna Ashram Marg, Barakhamba Road, Supreme Court, Seva Tirth, Janpath, Mandi House, Central Secretariat, ITO, Delhi Gate, Indraprastha, Khan Market, Jor Bagh, and Shivaji Stadium.'
