On Saturday, the Delhi High Court turned down a petition from RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav, who sought to halt proceedings in a CBI case linked to a job scam involving land exchanges. The court stated that the matter is already scheduled for discussion on charges before a special judge.

Court's Rationale for Denial

In its ruling, the court emphasized that the petitioner is free to present all arguments before the lower court during the consideration of charges. The court noted that this would provide the petitioner with an additional opportunity to express his views and for a decision to be made. Without presenting any compelling reasons for intervention, the High Court declined to stay the lower court's proceedings.

Previously, Lalu Prasad Yadav approached the Delhi High Court seeking the cancellation of an FIR filed by the CBI. His legal team, led by senior advocate Kapil Sibal, contended that the agency continued its investigation without obtaining the necessary approvals. Sibal argued that there was a lack of legal basis from the outset of the case, questioning, "Why should I argue on the charges in the trial court? Taking cognizance is inherently flawed."
