Development of Chhath Ghat in Mundeshpur

New Delhi, August 4 - The Delhi government is set to establish a permanent Chhath ghat along both banks of the Mundeshpur drain in Outer North Delhi to facilitate large-scale Chhath Puja celebrations. Officials shared this information on Tuesday, noting that Chief Minister Rekha Gupta recently emphasized the government's commitment to organizing the festival on a grand scale this year.

Additionally, significant ghats are being developed along the dry sections of the Munak canal. An official mentioned that a tender has been issued for the development of the Mundeshpur ghat, which will include modern amenities, landscaping, and other facilities. This project, estimated to cost around ₹9.6 crores, encompasses soil excavation, land leveling, the creation of approximately 16 acres of green space, construction of changing rooms and toilets, as well as boundary walls.

According to officials, the Irrigation and Flood Control Department will oversee the completion of this project. They also indicated that another Chhath ghat is being developed along the Munak canal, which is expected to accommodate around 20,000 devotees during the festivities. Work has commenced following the receipt of government approval and funding for the project.
