Delhi Government Issues Strict Guidelines for Bakra Eid Celebrations

Strict Measures for Bakra Eid in Delhi

In anticipation of the upcoming Bakra Eid (Eid-ul-Azha) festival, the Delhi government has implemented stringent directives to maintain law and order, cleanliness, and public safety in the national capital. This year, the festival is expected to be celebrated on May 27, depending on the sighting of the moon. Delhi's Minister Kapil Mishra has made it clear that anyone involved in illegal animal sacrifices or littering will face criminal charges.

Prohibition on Animal Sacrifice

Mishra emphasized that sacrificing cattle, cows, calves, camels, or any other prohibited species in Delhi is a punishable offense. He stated, "The Development Ministry of the Delhi Government has issued guidelines for the upcoming Bakra Eid festival. Sacrificing prohibited animals during this occasion is entirely illegal, and anyone attempting to do so will face criminal charges and legal action."

Restrictions on Public Sacrifices and Animal Markets

The minister reiterated that animal sacrifices in open areas, streets, or residential neighborhoods will not be tolerated. He added that the unauthorized buying and selling of animals in streets or temporary markets is also banned. "Moreover, conducting sacrifices in public spaces is strictly prohibited, and legal action will be taken against violators. Illegal trading of animals in markets, setting up street markets, and buying or selling animals is completely forbidden and not permitted," he stated.

Strict Rules for Waste and Blood Disposal

Mishra also highlighted the importance of cleanliness to prevent public health hazards. He warned against draining blood or disposing of animal remains in sewers. "Additionally, it is strictly forbidden to let blood flow into drains, sewers, or streets after sacrifices, or to throw waste into these areas. Sacrifices should only occur at designated and authorized locations where permitted," he emphasized.

Public Encouraged to Report Violations

Officials have urged residents to remain vigilant and report any violations of these guidelines to the police or the Development Department. The minister stated, "If you observe anyone violating these guidelines, you can report them to the police and the Delhi Government's Development Department."
