In light of a recent increase in COVID-19 cases nationwide, the Delhi Government has issued a detailed advisory for hospitals. Delhi: In response to the recent uptick in COVID-19 cases across the nation, the Delhi State Government has released a comprehensive advisory. The BJP-led administration has instructed all hospitals to ensure readiness by maintaining sufficient supplies of beds, oxygen, antibiotics, and vaccines. The advisory also highlighted the importance of ensuring that essential equipment, including ventilators, Bi-PAP machines, and oxygen concentrators, are fully operational.

According to the advisory, all healthcare facilities, including private institutions, are encouraged to send positive COVID-19 samples for genome sequencing to Lok Nayak Hospital in Delhi. This measure aims to facilitate the prompt identification of any emerging variants and to implement necessary precautions. The guidelines also stress the need for refresher training for dedicated healthcare staff in the near future.

The advisory further states that all health facilities must report cases of Influenza-like Illness (ILI) and Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI) daily through the Integrated Health Information Platform (IHIP). Confirmed cases of influenza and COVID-19 should also be documented on the IHIP using the designated L form. Additionally, daily updates on all health parameters are required on the Delhi State Health Data Management Portal.

Moreover, the advisory emphasizes the necessity for adequate testing in line with COVID-19 protocols. It mandates that 5% of ILI cases and 100% of SARI cases undergo testing, adhering to the guidelines set by the ICMR. The advisory also insists on maintaining respiratory etiquette within medical facilities, including the mandatory use of masks.
