Delhi Government Extends Pink Ticket Scheme for Women Passengers Until August 15

Extension of Pink Ticket Facility

The Delhi government has announced an extension of the pink ticket scheme for female passengers on DTC buses until August 15. This information was shared through an official order on Friday. According to previous directives from the transport department, the 'Pink Saheli' smart card was set to become mandatory starting in August.

In a recent order, DTC stated, "To facilitate a smooth transition to the smart card-based system, we have decided to extend the current arrangement. Consequently, all DTC buses will comply with these directives effective immediately."

The order further mentioned, "From August 16, pink tickets will only be issued to female passengers who possess a valid 'Pink Saheli' smart card." So far, approximately 1.7 million 'Pink Saheli' smart cards have been distributed across the city, and the government aims to increase this number. Officials noted that due to the slow adoption of the 'Pink Saheli' card among women passengers, the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) has launched a special campaign encouraging women to obtain the card.

According to officials, the decision has been made to gradually phase out the existing paper-based pink tickets in favor of a smart card-based system to enhance the benefits of free bus travel.
