Delhi Government's Statement on CJP Protests

On Thursday, the Delhi government announced that no legal actions would be taken against participants of the 'Cockroach People Party' (CJP) protests at Jantar Mantar. However, it emphasized that individuals with criminal records would not be granted any protection, in accordance with Supreme Court directives. A statement from the Delhi Home Department indicated that if anyone is detained or arrested during the protests, they would be released after a review process. The order specified that those arrested would be freed as soon as possible.

No Further Punitive Actions Planned

The order clarified that the NCT Delhi government has no intention of imposing any additional punitive measures against those involved in the protests, and this matter will be considered closed without further action. This directive was issued with the approval of the Honorable Lieutenant Governor of NCT Delhi. According to the government, the Delhi police have registered 13 FIRs related to the CJP protests, and those detained will be released promptly. It was also made clear that legal actions would be taken against individuals with a criminal background.

Delhi Police Responds to Social Media Claims

In response to claims circulating on social media, the Delhi police labeled them as false and misleading, asserting that there has been no ban on protests at Jantar Mantar. The police stated that the location remains available for peaceful demonstrations with prior permission.
