Delhi Experiences Slight Drop in Minimum Temperature with Rain Forecast

Weather Update for Delhi

On Saturday, a minor decrease in minimum temperature was recorded in the national capital, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert predicting light to moderate rainfall for the day. The Safdarjung weather station noted a minimum temperature of 24.7 degrees Celsius, which is 2.2 degrees below normal and 0.9 degrees lower than the previous day. In Palam, the minimum temperature was recorded at 22.5 degrees Celsius, down by 0.7 degrees from the day before.

Additionally, Lodhi Road reported a minimum temperature of 24.4 degrees Celsius, while Ayanagar recorded 24.7 degrees Celsius, both showing a decrease of 0.1 degrees compared to the previous day. Early Saturday, several weather stations observed light to moderate rainfall. Between 11:30 PM on Friday and 2:30 AM, Safdarjung recorded 16.6 mm of rain.

Following this, an additional 1.6 mm of rain fell in the next three hours. Palam saw 10.2 mm of rain from 11:30 PM to 2:30 AM, and 3.4 mm from 2:30 AM to 5:30 AM. The Pusa weather center recorded 13 mm of rain by 2:30 AM, followed by another 16 mm thereafter.

The IMD has forecasted light to moderate rainfall for Saturday and indicated that similar weather conditions may persist over the next few days. An IMD official stated, "There is a possibility of very light rain in several areas on Saturday. Moderate rain may occur in some places from morning to afternoon.

In the evening or night, there is a chance of very light to light rain in various regions." According to the IMD, maximum temperatures are expected to hover around 30 to 32 degrees Celsius. This August marks the highest rainfall recorded in the first week since 2011, with 127 mm of rain in the first seven days.

Due to continuous rainfall until Friday, the city experienced the most significant rainfall in 15 years during the first week of August, with several weather stations reporting over 100 mm of rain in a single day. According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the air quality index (AQI) in Delhi remained in the satisfactory range on Saturday morning.

At 9 AM, the AQI was recorded at 59, while the 24-hour average AQI was 63 as of 4 PM on Friday, which also falls within the satisfactory category. According to CPCB standards, an AQI of 0-50 is considered good, 51-100 satisfactory, 101-200 moderate, 201-300 poor, 301-400 very poor, and 401-500 severe.
