Delhi Experiences Brief Relief from Heat with Lower Temperatures

On Friday morning, residents of Delhi enjoyed a slight respite from the heat, as cooler temperatures were recorded across various parts of the city. The minimum temperature was noted to be below the seasonal average, providing some relief. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), there is a possibility of thunderstorms and light rain in certain areas throughout the day. The average minimum temperature in Delhi this morning was 22.8 degrees Celsius, which is 1.9 degrees lower than the typical temperature for this time of year.
Temperature Readings Across Stations
Station-specific data revealed that Palam recorded a minimum temperature of 21.3 degrees Celsius, which is 4.3 degrees below normal. Meanwhile, Lodhi Road reported a minimum of 21.8 degrees Celsius, 1.2 degrees lower than usual. The Ridge station noted a minimum temperature of 20.4 degrees Celsius, 4.6 degrees below the average. Ayanagar also recorded a minimum of 21.4 degrees Celsius, which is 2.2 degrees lower than normal. The maximum temperature in the city is expected to reach around 40 degrees Celsius. Additionally, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi was measured at 128 at 9 AM, indicating a moderate level of air quality.
Air Quality Monitoring
According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) and its Sameer app, 41 monitoring stations reported moderate air quality, while three stations were categorized as satisfactory. The CPCB defines AQI levels as follows: 0-50 is considered 'Good', 51-100 'Satisfactory', 101-200 'Moderate', 201-300 'Poor', 301-400 'Very Poor', and 401-500 'Severe'.
