Delhi Education Minister Launches Special Cycling Initiative on World Bicycle Day
Celebrating World Bicycle Day with a Special Initiative
On the occasion of World Bicycle Day, Ashish Sood, the Education Minister of Delhi, inaugurated a special event under the Fit India Mission called 'Sunday on Cycle' in Janakpuri this past Sunday.
According to a statement released by the Education Minister's office, this initiative, supported by the Directorate of Education, saw participation from school students, local youth, senior citizens, and members of resident welfare associations.
Participants cycled together in the neighborhood to show their support for fitness and community engagement. Addressing the attendees, Sood remarked that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken significant steps to strengthen the sports framework in the country.
Initiatives like the Fit India Movement and Khelo India Movement have gained immense popularity across India. He emphasized that cycling offers numerous benefits beyond just physical health.
Sood stated, 'This initiative is not limited to cycling; it represents a significant step towards promoting fitness, community involvement, and building a healthier India.'
According to the minister, the Fit India Cycling Drive, which began in New Delhi, has now evolved into a nationwide movement. He noted that nearly three lakh people have participated in this campaign across more than 5,500 locations throughout India.
