Government Reports on Demolition Efforts

New Delhi, July 27 - The government informed Parliament on Monday that the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has conducted approximately 1,116 demolition operations over the past three years, reclaiming around 2,719 acres of land from encroachments. This information was shared by the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs, Tokhan Sahu, in a written response to a question in the Rajya Sabha.

According to the data received from the DDA, these demolition efforts have successfully cleared various types of land, including government properties, sidewalks, agricultural areas, green spaces, boundary walls, and roadside parking. The minister noted that prior to these operations, proper notices were issued or affixed at the relevant sites in accordance with current regulations and court orders.

In response to another query, Sahu mentioned that the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has submitted detailed project reports for four new Nammo Bharat corridors aimed at enhancing rail connectivity in the Delhi-NCR region. The reports cover corridors from Delhi to Karnal, Delhi to Bawal, Bawal to Bhirowd, and Ghaziabad to Noida International Airport. He added that these proposals are currently under consideration by the central government, as the Nammo Bharat projects involve significant investment, and a thorough technical and financial assessment will be conducted before any funding decisions are made.
