Delhi Court Places Satyendar Jain and Associates in Judicial Custody Over Corruption Allegations
Judicial Custody for Former Minister and Associates
New Delhi: On Wednesday, a court in Delhi ordered that former minister Satyendar Jain, along with Udit Prakash Rai, the former CEO of the Delhi Jal Board, and three other individuals, be placed in judicial custody for 14 days due to allegations of corruption linked to the tendering process for sewage treatment plant projects.
Special Judge Dig Vinay Singh also directed that Ankit Srivastava, a former consultant for the DJB, be held in police custody for two days.
The court has issued a notice to the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) regarding Jain's bail application, which was filed by his lawyer on the same day.
Jain, Rai, Srivastava, and three others were apprehended by the ACB late Tuesday night.
A detailed order from the court is still pending.
The other individuals implicated in this case include private citizens Nagendra Yadav, Raja Kumar Kurra, and Pankaj Verma.
This case was initiated in May 2024 following a complaint from the Directorate of Vigilance, which cited significant irregularities, manipulation of tender conditions, and a criminal conspiracy in the tendering process for the enhancement and modernization of sewage treatment facilities managed by the DJB.
