Court Proceedings for PFI Leaders

A court in Delhi has mandated that proceedings against leaders of the Popular Front of India (PFI) be conducted behind closed doors, as of Saturday.

Special Judge Prashant Sharma is overseeing the hearings concerning 20 accused PFI leaders. He instructed media personnel to exit the courtroom, indicating that the proceedings would be confidential.

According to sources, the next hearing in this case has been scheduled for January 7. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had informed the court on December 21, 2025, that the PFI was allegedly involved in procuring weapons from neighboring countries, providing arms training to its cadres, and attempting to radicalize Muslim youth.

In September 2022, the central government imposed a five-year ban on the PFI and several of its affiliates under stringent anti-terrorism laws, citing links to global terrorist organizations such as ISIS.
