On Wednesday, the Patiala House Court in Delhi reserved its judgment regarding the bail petitions of three individuals arrested during protests at India Gate. The police opposed these bail applications, citing the nature of the protests.

The demonstrators, including students, were allegedly involved in chanting anti-national slogans and using pepper spray against police officers. These actions led to their detention.

The police argued against the bail requests, emphasizing the serious nature of the allegations. The court is expected to announce its decision on Monday regarding these petitions.

Details of the Arrests

The judicial magistrate, Aridaman Singh Cheema, has taken the petitions of individuals named Shree Ilakiya, Tanya Srivastava, and Kajal under advisement. The court will deliver its ruling on these applications on Thursday.

During the hearings, lawyer Nizam Pasha argued that all accused are students currently facing examinations, which should be considered in the court's decision.

Police's Stance on the Protesters

In contrast, the Delhi police stated that Ilakiya is a member of the Bhagat Singh Student Unity Forum and was holding a poster during the protest. The lawyer pointed out that the event in Hyderabad, where Ilakiya was allegedly present, occurred ten months ago, and the related video has been available online for a long time.

The court questioned the basis for her detention regarding the past event, while Pasha maintained that he neither accepted nor denied the allegations, indicating that the truth would be addressed at the appropriate time.
