Delhi Court Delays Decision on Bail Applications in Protest Case
Court Postpones Ruling on Bail for Protestors
A court in Delhi has decided to postpone its ruling on the bail applications of seven individuals involved in a protest case until December 4. This demonstration took place near India Gate on November 23, in response to the rising levels of air pollution in the national capital.
The protest primarily involved students from the 'Bhagat Singh Chhatra Ekta Manch' (BSCEM) and the environmental research and action group 'Himkhand'. Allegations against the demonstrators include chanting controversial slogans and using pepper spray against police officers during the protest.
Some police personnel attempting to manage the situation were injured due to the use of pepper spray. After hearing arguments from the investigating officer and the lawyers representing the accused, Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Aridaman Singh Cheema has reserved the decision on the bail applications.
