Severe Weather Disrupts Flight Operations

New Delhi: On Wednesday, dense fog and poor visibility led to the cancellation of at least 148 flights and caused delays for over 150 others at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA).

According to officials, the airport saw 78 incoming flights and 70 outgoing flights canceled due to the adverse weather conditions.

In a morning update on X, the airport authority noted that visibility was gradually improving, although some flights might still experience disruptions.

Ground staff at the airport are collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure passengers receive the necessary assistance and support across all terminals.

The civil aviation ministry also shared on X that the ongoing fog in parts of Northern India could affect flight operations at several airports.

Airlines have been directed to comply with passenger service regulations, ensuring timely updates, assistance during delays, and options for rebooking or refunds as needed.

IGIA typically manages around 1,300 flight movements each day.
