Francois Rivard, vice president of Rhino Linings, which provided the spray-on coating for the restoration, mentioned that the timeline has been extended and completion could take several weeks. He confirmed, “It will not be before the celebrations, that’s for sure,” while assuring that the delays are measured in weeks rather than years.

Despite ongoing maintenance, the Reflecting Pool continues to suffer from algae growth and visible damage. Former President Donald Trump has attributed these issues to vandalism, claiming a deliberate cut in the newly applied lining. However, Atlantic Industrial Coatings, the Virginia contractor managing the project, clarified that the damaged areas are minor and do not reflect a failure of the overall restoration.

According to the company, repairs cannot commence until the pool is completely drained, and they will be conducted under warranty once conditions permit. Trump acknowledged the delays on Truth Social, stating that while the pool remains usable, it will need further repairs. He mentioned plans to drain some water either just before or after the Fourth of July for permanent fixes.

Administration officials are currently assessing the damaged sections, promising that repairs will be expedited once the pool is emptied. The situation has escalated with claims from the administration that the damage was caused by malicious individuals.
